"Free writing is a prewriting technique in which a person writes continuously for a set period of time without regard to spelling, grammar, or topic. It produces raw, often unusable material, but helps writers overcome blocks of apathy and self-criticism. It is used mainly by prose writers and writing teachers. Some writers use the technique to collect initial thoughts and ideas on a topic, often as a preliminary to formal writing."

Free writing is exactly what wikipedia says it is. It's typing mindlessly whatever comes into your head without thinking of grammar or spelling mistakes. Simply typing, it's a good way to catch ideas whenever you need them or to overcome the "writers' block". I used it for writing the script for my play and it worked perfectly, I recommend everyone who's stuck to do the same. And if you don't feel like doing it, consider this: sitting, staring at the screen and doing nothing isn't as productive as putting whatever is in your mind on paper.
