I have never imagined blogging to be so difficult. It's like having a writers block. No ideas what to post, what to write about or what pictures to upload, so I will blog about blogging, try to make a guide about it and hope it's going to be helpful to such lost souls as me.
Lesson 1. Creating a blog.
Step 1. Finding the topic.
This is probably the hardest step. You will require a lot of time, patience and a decent internet browser. (We've (me and my neighbour students!) learned a very valuable lesson just now. Never, and when I say never, I mean NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use IE.). Try to focus on what you like and enjoy, if you don't enjoy anything... Well that's just sad, but you could try to find something usefull such as maths or programming or something that could help the world. Anyhow, it all deppends on you, the reader, and your interests.
Step 2. Setting up the blog. This step is not as hard as step 1., but twice as confusing and time consuming (no worries, it gets better). I will not go into details on how to create a blog because every child with access to the internet can do so, but some design tips never hurt anyone! So, first try to decide on the basic design and colour scheme. It should be something easy on the eyes, not too bright (in my opinion), but not too dark either (in my opinion) and should do something with the topic you've thought of. If, for example, you will blog about reading and books, why not have a book as a background? Yet again, it all deppends on you, the reader. Try to make it as user-friendly as possible, menu should be placed in an easy-to-stop place. Most popular solutions are on top of the blog, or on the left hand side. The pages should be easily understandable and as simple as possible. If you want a page about yourself, name it "About me", instead of "Info about me accessible 24/7 all around the world!" (I know I exaggerated but you got the idea.). After you've decided on every detail, modify your blog and VOILA! We're ready to roll!
Wait patiently for next lesson or pioneer the prairies of blogging on your own. But beware! It will be frustrating at certain times, yet pleasing in the end. Afterall, if we hadn't explored America, we wouldn't have McDonalds now! Bye!
